Wine tours in Lebanon!
Wine Tasting Holiday
Weekend Breaks
Lebanon, bordered by Syria, Jordan, Israel and the warm waters of the Med. is one of the worlds smallest countries. Within its borders though it has rivers, mountains, forests and most importantly, for wine the Bekaa valley. Only 150km from end to end, it is still 1000 feet above sea level and flanked on both sides by the Mount Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon ranges.
We suggest seven vineyards in Lebanon that are all worth a sommeliers attention. The best time to visit is between April to November, with September being the prime month during grape harvesting. (Skiers in the winter months can still visit the vineyards, the vines are not in leaf and therefore everything is looking rather brown, however you will still have an informative visit and wine tasting opportunities).
In the UK the three best known Lebanese wines are the Ksara, Chateau Kefraya and chateau Musar. To visit all three, because the Chateau Musar is outside the Bekaa valley, makes for a very rushed weekend break. If you can stay five days then you can easily manage all eight vineyards.
We have put together 4 programmes. Programmes 1 and 2 can be done over a weekend. For the 5 day itinerary please choose programme 3. For an eight day programme that includes more sightseeing please see programme 4.
Departure days for these programmes from UK can be any day you like as between Middle Eastern Airlines and British Mediterranean there are direct flights from Heathrow to Beirut Airport every day.
