China is awakening to the potential of the skiing market, but it is early days yet and open quiet uncrowded slopes are still very much to be enjoyed. The two main resorts cater mainly for the beginners market which is growing. The best resort is Yabuli in Heiliongjiang Province - here there are some challenging runs but access is still restricted by only allowing tourists to use certain areas of the resort. Hopefully as the sport grows and the internal demand within the country increases, there is going to be some very exciting skiing to be had, as there will be a need to make accessible to tourists runs currently only used by the Chinese athletes. For now accept that these resorts are to be enjoyed by beginners and intermediates and take pleasure in the quiet along with the lovely food and facilities in the hotels!

Skiing in the Mount Lebanon Range in the Middle East.

With ski slopes in view of the Levantine Coastline and the Mediterranean stretching out to eternity, Mountain walking, vineyards, crusader castles, souks and Phoenician ruins no more than an hour from the ski slopes, Lebanon has something to satisfy everyone's holiday aspirations!

Lebanon is the most exotic Mediterranean destination for skiing and we specialise in itineraries allowing skiers to sightsee too. Lebanon is one of the worlds smallest countries, hemmed in by the warm waters of the Mediterranean and borders of Syria, Jordan and Israel, making it a feasible feat to see much of it in a short space of time.

Skiers can ski the best resort in the Middle East called Faraya Maazar. It is in the village of Ouyoune Al Simane in the Kfardebian region of the Mount Lebanon Range. At the top of the resort at the Maazar dome you can look out across the Mediterranean Sea. Turn and look in the opposite direction and you can see across to the Bekka Valley, the wine 'basket' of Lebanon. Ski the Cedars is another romantic option. Noted more for its social life than its extensive lift system, this is another feather to Lebanon's cap. Of course for any non skiers in the group there is wine tasting, delicious Middle Eastern food, walking and plenty of opportunity to explore Lebanon.
