Lebanon's diverse geography lends itself to walking holidays. A high level of fitness and stringent exercise regime is not required as these treks are of a moderate to easy level! Your guide will match your pace so you can enjoy the views of the beautiful mountain routes in the Chouf mountains in the south of the Mount Lebanon range, up to the far North and the Syrian border.

Our walking itineraries aim to let you get an overview of Lebanon's mountain environment. You walk through Lebanese villages, visit maronite chapels in the Kadisha Gorge, see the forests of Lebanon and a diversity of other habitats and wildlife. A walkers paradise.

The best time to take your walking holiday is from late March through to October. For skiers also wanting to walk, this can be done in theory all winter at the Cedars, where one walks down into the Kadisha Gorge, which is free of snow year round. In practice though the road to get up to the ski resort can sometimes be blocked so you are best to plan to do this in March when the snow is still plentiful, but the roads likely to be clear.

On the next page is our suggested itinerary which will give you a good insight into Lebanese culture and satisfy your passion for the outdoors. To recover at the end you can stop off at one of the vineyards and savour some Lebanese wine and if walking in September participate in the grape harvesting!
