  • How to book

  • Press the contact agents button Contact Agents, and your e-mail request will be directed on to the travel agents we use in Beirut. This speeds up the information pipeline as the information you require comes back to you directly. Once your itinerary has been approved by you, payment can be made to the travel agents by any of the following methods - Bank transfer, Bank to Bank draft cheque or credit card. Bank details will be furnished along with the Travel Agents booking conditions. If you wish arrangements can be put in place for you to pay upon arrival in Beirut. Please note that if doing this you will be requested to supply a copy of your passport and both sides of your credit card. This is to ensure that hotels, vehicles, taxis and guides booked up for your itinerary are not then rebooked by another party.

  • A note about the travel agents we use

  • The The travel agents we pass you onto in Lebanon have 70 years of experience in travel and tourism services. They are the sole Lebanese member of WATA (World Association of Travel Agencies). They can also arrange a variety of touring options including Syria and Jordon with extensions to Egypt and Turkey. We have used them now since 1998 so they have been well tried and tested!

  • Flights and Airport Tax

  • We are a travel consultancy company here in UK whose purpose is to assist you with your travel options in Lebanon. We are not a travel agency so you will need to book your own flights out to Beirut.

The travel agency we find most efficient in UK is Trailfinders in London. They are fully ATOL bonded which means you are protected in the very unlikely event of their insolvency. The contact numbers for Trailfinders if you are a group of 10 or more is 0207 938 3366. The Trailfinders individual flights number is 0207 938 3939.

If going through other travel agencies please ensure that the agency you deal with is ATOL bonded.

Please note the airport taxes to Lebanon are very expensive, putting another £50.00 onto the cost of your flight, which is unavoidable. Trailfinders include this tax in their ticket quote, so again if looking elsewhere please ensure you are not caught out by this.

Direct flights to Beirut take approx 4 hours and 15 minutes, MEA (Middle East Airlines) and British Mediterranean fly direct. Both are good carriers and both sell alcohol on board.

  • About us and your holiday insurance

  • Holiday insurance is obligatory. Again Trailfinders have a policy that covers you for casualty evacuation and winter sports. It must be stressed again that we are not travel agents which primarily means that we have no company liability insurance. The onus is very much upon yourself to book your own international flight (through a bonded ATOL agent) and to have your own comprehensive holiday travel insurance. If you are a very experienced skier and therefore planning to take a guide and go out of the resort ski touring you could consider the following companies, the BMC, Tel: 0161 445 4747, the SCGB, Tel 08700 759 759, Douglas Scott Tyrie, Tel 0208 522 3424, Snowcard, Tel 01327 262 805, and Fogg Travel Insurance Services, Tel 01623 631 331

  • Visas and Inoculations

  • The visa situation has recently changed. Anyone holding a British passport is no longer allowed to get a visa upon arrival in Beirut. It must be done through the appropriate Lebanese Embassy. If obtaining a visa from UK it must be done from the Embassy in London. It is £25.00 for a single entry and £50.00 for a multiple visa. It is best to telephone the Embassy first on 0207 229 7265 for an application form to be sent out to you. It normally takes two days to process, but if you live outside London, inform the Embassy and they will arrange for you to do a same day drop and collect. If applying by post, the procedure takes 2 days from the receipt of the application form.

A small consolation, but the airport at Beirut appears to have now waived the $5.00 exit tax.

There are no required vaccinations to enter Lebanon, but it is recommended by the inoculations department at Trailfinders that you have preventive shots for polio, tetanus and typhoid.

  • Group size

  • If you are a group of ten or more this will considerably reduce the cost of your holiday. The travel agents we use do not mix groups as the object of the holidays is that you enjoy the fun of being in a party of your own making, get to ski, and/or explore and see a magnificent part of the world at an affordable price.

  • What is included in the price in Lebanon

  • Unless otherwise stated accommodation is based on two people sharing a room with an ensuite bathroom. Lunches on all sightseeing trips are included along with all transport, guides, entrance fees, tours and sightseeing detailed in your itinerary.

  • What is not included in the price in Lebanon

  • Unless otherwise included in your itinerary, taxis at night, all dinners, ski passes, equipment hire, and lunch on the slopes (as this is difficult to organise without constricting peoples movements to much). Obviously spending money will also be needed for extras such as ski doos, paragliding, excess baggage charges, drinks, laundry, phone calls and other things of a personal nature.

  • Your Responsiblities

  • Please ensure you have travel insurance and your passport is valid until up to 6 months after your holiday commences. If during your holiday you have any difficulties, or complaints the onus is on you to take it up with the agents at the time, so that they have the opportunity to remedy it.

  • Our Responsiblities

  • We, by forwarding you on directly to agents in Beirut, cut out the UK office administration costs which many travel based companies have to pass on to the clients. As we have every confidence in the agents in Beirut by passing you on directly we can speed up and streamline the information pipeline. We are still here though if you need to speak to us here in UK about anything. Telephone 01307 820 421, or e-mail NorthWestFrontier@compuserve.com and we will endeavour to sort out any query that you might have.

  • Legalities you must be aware of.

  • As explained above we are not travel agents, but travel consultants to assist you in your travel options in Lebanon. Lebanon it must be stressed is a pioneering destination that is now beginning to increase in its popularity. That said we have a link to the Foreign Office Website which you should check prior to travel. Should conditions be viewed in your eyes as unsuitable to travel, be aware that if a blanket ban is not placed over all of Lebanon by the FCO, it is unlikely that your holiday insurance, who ever you have it with, will pay up for you deciding not to travel. As previously pointed out, we have no liability insurance here in UK and take no responsibility for your decision not to travel, or for anything that should happen to you while you are travelling in Lebanon.

If the political situation should change we, not being travel agents, are in no position to help you recoup the cost of your international flights. However, regarding your holiday costs the agents used in Beirut have a very reasonable Cancellation policy. Your holiday contract is with the agents in Beirut and their Cancellation policy will be forwarded to you when supplying you with payment details.

As with any pioneering destination these things need to be made clear so everyone knows where they stand, but hopefully this hasn't put you off travelling to Lebanon!

    ENJOY LEBANON!
